Although CK’s only offers one dish that can be prepared vegan, your non-veg date can enjoy fresh, local organic foods or the Slow Food of the day.

I am embarrassed to say I have never heard of the Slow Food Movement, especially being from Portland, but CK’s offers one special every night that meets these objectives. Tonight it was a pork dish with plantains, perfect for my carnivore boyfriend, but not so much for me. When I called to make the reservations I asked if they offered any vegan dishes, so when I arrived the waiter knew of my dietary needs and offered me a vegan version of the Veggie Madness. This is a fabulous dish with rotating ingredients but tonight it had mushrooms, artichokes, grilled tomatoes, spinach and black beans. We enjoyed our dinner on the patio and experienced excellent service. This is definitely a place to go for that special occasion because both you and your non-veg date can feel good about sustainable eating.
